Health and Safety
Health and safety is not a compliance exercise; it is a fundamental right for everyone connected with Maxen Power. Every day, we make a conscious commitment to protect our people, our customers, and all those affected by our activities.
Our Commitment
At Maxen Power, we recognise that our people are our greatest asset. Their health, safety, and well-being are non-negotiable priorities that sit at the heart of everything we do. Our objective is unambiguous: zero harm. Every employee, contractor, and visitor should return home safely at the end of each working day.
We are equally committed to the safety and well-being of our customers, third-party agents working on our behalf, and all members of the public who may be affected by our operations. We firmly believe that all incidents are preventable, and by developing a culture grounded in awareness, accountability, and care, we will achieve and sustain zero harm across all our activities.
Our Objectives
In fulfilment of our commitment to health and safety, Maxen Power will:
Embed health and safety as a core value across all operations and business activities, ensuring it is considered at every stage of planning and delivery.
Provide and maintain safe working conditions, safe systems of work, and a working environment that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, without health risks.
Identify, assess, and effectively manage all significant risks, with particular focus on the elimination or reduction of life-threatening hazards, work-related ill health, and serious injuries, in line with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations.
Ensure that all employees, contractors, and relevant third parties are provided with sufficient information, instruction, training, and supervision to enable them to carry out their work safely and without health risk.
Comply fully with all applicable health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice, and relevant industry standards, including those set by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), where applicable.
Maintain a transparent and accessible reporting culture in which all employees feel safe and confident to raise health and safety concerns, report near misses, and escalate hazards without fear of reprisal.
Investigate all incidents and near misses thoroughly, share lessons learned across the business, and use findings to drive continual improvement in our safety performance.
Actively prioritise employee health and well-being, recognising the importance of mental health alongside physical safety.
Consult with employees and their representatives on matters affecting their health, safety, and welfare, in accordance with the Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996.
Review this statement and our underpinning health and safety arrangements at planned intervals, or following significant changes, to ensure continued suitability and effectiveness.
Shared Responsibility
Health and safety is a shared responsibility at every level of our organisation. As Chief Executive Officer, I am committed to supporting a strong health and safety culture, promoting appropriate standards, ensuring suitable resources are available and encouraging clear expectations that are consistently communicated and upheld.
Every employee is expected to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions at work, and to cooperate with Maxen Power in meeting our legal and regulatory obligations.
Stakeholders and third-party agents working on our behalf are expected to support the same commitment to health and safety and comply with Maxen Power’s relevant health and safety requirements while carrying out their duties.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to promoting continual improvement in our health and safety management system. Our performance will be monitored and periodically reviewed to support our health and safety objectives and identify opportunities for improvement.
As Chief Executive Officer, I am firmly committed to strengthening our health and safety culture through leadership, shared responsibility, and continuous improvement at every level. This is how we show care, build trust, and stand stronger together at Maxen Power.
